Cocoa Crinkle Cookies

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 large egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Icing sugar for rolling


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In the bowl of your mixer, cream butter and sugars together.
  3. Slowly blend in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt until combined.
  4. Add egg whites and vanilla and mix just until the dough comes together.
  5. Place a couple of spoonfulls of icing sugar in a shallow dish or bowl for rolling.
  6. Roll dough into 1 ½” balls and roll each ball in icing sugar till coated. Place on a lined or greased cookie sheet about 2” apart.
  7. Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes until just set around the edges and tops are cracked and crinkled.
  8. Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
