Would your class or group like to tour inside an egg farm? BC Egg offers a unique opportunity to show your students where their food comes from by bringing you onto our egg farms virtually! Tours are live and in real time, hosted by a pair of BC egg farmers. They’ll show you around their farms and inside their barns, giving you a rare chance to see on-farm activities in action. You’ll meet the hens, see how eggs are collected and there’s an opportunity for a Q&A session at the end of each tour.

This video takes you through an enriched egg laying barn. By the year 2036, enriched housing will have replaced all standard cage housing for laying hens throughout Canada. This housing system allows hens room for all their natural behaviours including perching, scratching, laying their eggs, eating and drinking, and produces the most economical eggs available on your grocery store shelves. In this video, you’ll meet Dan, our farmer from Abbotsford, BC, and see his entire farm, including how the hens are housed, fed and cared for.
Once eggs are collected by the farmer, they must be graded at a certified grading station. This video takes you inside an Island Eggs grading station to show you how eggs are cleaned and inspected before being packed and shipped to your local grocery store.
