When BC receives a quota allocation, BC Egg must determine an allocation methodology that meets the Regulated Markets Economic Policy and SAFETI Principles.
In 2022 Egg Farmers of Canada Implemented a Special Temporary Market Requirement Quota (STMRQ). This program was introduced to ensure that the breaker egg market continued to have sufficient supply in the face of shortages in the market due to Avian Influenza coupled with increased consumption of table eggs.

In November, 2022, BC Egg Marketing Board implemented a BC specific Special Temporary Market Requirement Quota (STMRQ) program. Avian Influenza has had an impact on the production of classic white eggs in BC and this program is designed to help maintain production of this egg type during the holiday season when demand is particularly high.
