Cedarline Eggs is a family-run layer operation that got its start in October 2016 thanks to the BC Egg New Entrant Program. The farm is run by three sisters and their husbands. The sisters take care of egg packing while their husbands are in charge of the day-to-day bird and barn management.

Q & A

What is your favourite part about being an egg farmer?

Walking into the barn to see all the eggs on the belt and walking out with them stacked and ready to be picked up for grading/store shelves. It’s very rewarding to know we are producing a quality food product to local markets.

Why did you choose the production type you use?

In our eyes, Enriched Housing offers the best balance for the eggs, birds, and producer. It provides the birds with room to be social and the ability to perch. Each colony offers a scratch pad, 2 nesting boxes, and lots of room for feed and water. When the eggs roll onto the egg belt, they are clean and in good shape. The air quality is also very fresh, which makes it a healthy environment for the birds to live in and also for us to work in.
