We are new producers living and farming in beautiful Agassiz, BC. We currently have 3,200 certified organic hens producing beautiful brown eggs. We ship to Island Eggs and also recently purchased a vending machine that we use to sell farm gate eggs. We love interacting with the public and offering our fresh eggs laid within the past 36 hours.

Q & A
How many generations has your family been egg farming?
We are the first generation. Which family members work on your farm?
My husband (Willem) takes care of the business end of our farm as well as general maintenance. I (Kristin) collect the eggs together with our children. Danielle is still home, she is four, and she loves to help every day. Lucas helps when he is not at school, and Andrew (two) loves to play by the chickens. How long have you been egg farming?
We started farming with 399 hens in 2016 and switched to 3,200 in January of 2019. Why did you begin egg farming?
Since I love farming and being outside, we thought it was a great idea to have laying hens to earn some extra income and allow me to stay at home with my kids. Do you raise any other livestock or crops on your farm?
We have a small cedar hedging nursery. Our other livestock consists of two dogs, a cat, two goats, two miniature horses, and two bunnies. What is your favourite part about being an egg farmer?
We all love our hens. They cheer me up every day when I walk the barns, and there's nothing better than seeing them outside scratching and chasing bugs. They don't quite all have names but we care about each one. It's also super rewarding to collect all those beautiful eggs every day. Why did you choose the production type you use?
Due to market demand we were required to produce certified organic eggs. We are very happy to produce this type because we love having our hens outside. What would you like consumers to know about egg farmers/egg farming?
The eggs they purchase have all be raised according to the highest standards and we all as farmers care immensely for the welfare of our hens. What does being an egg farmer mean to you?
We feel fortunate to be part of such an amazing industry. We are proud to provide Canadians with healthy eggs produced by happy hens. Who is your feed provider?
