Farmer Bens Eggs is a 2nd generation family farm, currently owned and operated by Ian Woike. Ian and his father, Ben started the egg layer farm in 1980, branching out to the grading and wholesale business in 1994. Ian’s wife, Jennifer has served as a member of the BC Egg Board of Directors. Ian and Jennifer have raised 3 children on the farm. They have proudly been providing safe, fresh nutritious eggs to Vancouver Island for over 4 decades.

Why did you begin egg farming?
I wanted to be self-employed and eventually take over the farm from my dad.
What is your favourite part about being an egg farmer?
Being my own boss, working with the animals, and being part of the changes that are happening in the agriculture sector.
What would you like consumers to know about egg farmers/egg farming?
That we are passionate about what we do and that caring for our hens is the most important part of our job.
What does being an egg farmer mean to you?
It gives me the freedom to be my own boss and gives me the ability to raise my family on the farm and teach them work ethic.
